Jobcenter team.arbeit.hamburg covers all of Hamburg — it is a joint institution of the city and the Agentur für Arbeit, with more than a dozen offices across all districts (Altona, Harburg, Bergedorf, Wandsbek, Barmbek, Mitte, Nord, and many more). Main office: Raboisen 28, phone: 040 2485-1444.
The Handelskammer Hamburg (Hamburg Chamber of Commerce) (Adolphsplatz 1, founder consultation: 040 36138-433) — note: for historical reasons Hamburg has a Handelskammer, not an IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce). For craft trade founders, the Handwerkskammer Hamburg (Holstenwall 12) is responsible. Alternatively, BAFA-listed consultants such as Business Start EU can issue it.
The IFB Hamburg, through its subsidiary Innovationsstarter, offers: InnoFounder (€2,500/month stipend, max. 18 months, up to €75,000 for teams / €45,000 for solo founders) and InnoRampUp (up to €150,000 grant for deep-tech startups under 2 years old). The Haspa (Hamburger Sparkasse) supports founders with KfW (German state development bank) startup loans.
Absolutely. Business Start EU (BAFA ID: 205985), based in Heidelberg, supports founders from Hamburg and the entire metropolitan region online — with flexible scheduling and no waiting for in-person appointments. Online consultation is officially recognized as equivalent to on-site consultation.
Yes! Startup Port (formerly beyourpilot) bundles founder support from 10 universities in the metropolitan region — including the University of Hamburg, TU Hamburg, HAW, and HCU. The incubation center is located in Harburger Binnenhafen. Contact: 040 42878-4769.
The Gründungszuschuss (German founder grant for ALG-I recipients, § 93 SGB III) is for ALG I recipients and is applied for at the Agentur für Arbeit — up to 15 months of funding. The Einstiegsgeld (German entry allowance for Bürgergeld recipients, § 16b SGB II) is for Bürgergeld recipients and is applied for at the Jobcenter — up to 24 months, plus a potential investment cost subsidy of up to €5,000.
